Where do I begin to cover almost 52 years of beautiful and true friendship. I remember you helping me, as a trainee cashier, to balance my till at the end of busy days and also spending many hours together converting all the customers accounts from pounds, shillings and pence to decimal currency, all done manually, no "magic buttons" to press in those days!!! Yet we came through it all smiling, just!!
On another occasion I remember the false ceiling in the machine room falling down onto yourself and Nigel Hall who, when he took his glasses off looked like a panda with white eye sockets and his face covered in very ancient dust!! Thankfully neither you nor he were hurt, only a bit of pride!
Many years later, after you had retired from the Bank, you concentrated on your little house and garden enjoying keeping it all so very neat and tidy. You always had your daily walk either to Crystal Peaks or to the local shops and a walk round Frecheville Pond to admire the beautiful swans there. I know how much these walks meant to you, especially living alone.
During our many lovely "coffee mornings" (before Covid struck!) we would chat for ages over lovely scrummy cake, choccy biscuits and many more goodies, always putting the world to rights and discussing what the Royals were up to. Always a "people person" you knew so many facts and details about film stars especially those from the golden era of Hollywood. We've laughed and cried and chatted for hours and these times I will cherish forever.
You dearly loved your trips to Malta where you met up with all your friends at the same hotel and it is so very sad that the Covid Pandemic prevented any holidays in 2020, but I am sure that you will be looking down on that pretty island and remembering all the good times you spent there.
These a just a few reminiscences that cover over half a century of friendship. We all truly believed that you would live to be 100 but, sadly, it wasnt to be.
You will always be in our hearts and thoughts and will be missed so much.
God Bless you Sheila and rest in peace.
All our love, Rita and Tim
